Drag Race social does not begin after the episode ends. Fans watch, post, text, quote, argue, and find the clip they are going to replay while the show is still on.

Across Seasons 14 and 15, I led live-episode social and advocacy for the franchise, writing for an audience that watches with a phone in hand.

I wrote previews, live replies, post-show material, cast posts, and vertical video, alongside information about where to watch. The account also needed a considered response when the news affecting the performers reached the feed.

Build the rhythm.

Season 14 established the weekly routine: previews before air, live posts during the episode, and conversation after the credits. I wrote for each part while keeping the account recognizable from week to week.

Raise the stakes.

The show moved to MTV and the voice carried over intact. Vertical video took a bigger share of the work. As anti-drag legislation intensified, the feed took a clear point of view. The season went on to win the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

Anticipation

Pre-air posts built anticipation. A preview set up the night and told the audience where to look before the first entrance.

The premiere carried a second job. Establish the season voice, then set the weekly social rhythm everything after it would follow.

Live response

A live post had to arrive while people were still reacting to the moment on screen. I wrote for those reactions, with timing and jokes that belonged alongside the episode.

Every week the brief was the same. Stay in the room. Respond to the show as it happens.

Conversation

Analysis, cast reveals, and vertical video kept people talking, and streaming support gave latecomers a way in.

Later material had more room to develop a response or bring someone back to the show. At the finale, it carried the conversation without flattening the season into a recap.

01 · Pace

Changing pace with the audience

The writing needed to fit where people were in that cycle. A preview could build anticipation. A live post needed to understand the beat already happening on screen. Later material had more room to develop a response or bring someone back to the show.

I kept the writing consistent across previews, live posts, and follow-up material. The account needed to feel familiar as the format and amount of detail changed.

02 · Point of view

Advocacy within the work

As anti-drag legislation intensified, the feed could not pretend the performers lived apart from it. I brought that context into the account with attention to the people affected.

It ran as part of the account’s ongoing relationship with its audience rather than a one-off statement. Some moments required more than a reaction post, and the voice had to hold both.

The Emmy recognizes the show. My contribution was the social writing and advocacy work described here.
